A devoted woman of Full Gospel faith, Basdai carried herself with kindness, warmth and a loving spirit. She shared her life with her late husband, Balgobin Roopchan, and made her home in Indian Trail Village, Couva, where her outgoing nature and gentle heart endeared her to those around her. Throughout her working years, Basdai contributed to the Sugar Cane Industries, reflecting the strength and dedication of a generation built on hard work and perseverance. Away from work, she found happiness in crafting and sewing, creating beautiful things with her hands and care. She also had a special love for flowers, whose beauty and colour reflected much of her own vibrant personality. It is fitting that red and pink were among her favourite colours—warm, joyful shades that beautifully symbolize love and affection. Basdai will be remembered as a kind, outgoing and loving woman whose 96 years represented a lifetime of memories, experiences and cherished connections. Though her earthly journey has ended, the love she shared and the memories she created will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
